Meet our Team
Tara Jubanowsky, LCSW, ACSW
My passion has always been children and families. Before transitioning to private practice I worked with families in a hospital setting and have a strong background in counseling children, siblings and parents through chronic or life-threatening conditions. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, and depression, as well as grief and bereavement. I enjoy working with children, adults, and families because life is complicated, however minor changes can make a big difference in everyday life and overall wellbeing. Our time together can help to identify areas of strength and resilience to provide space for reflection, growth and ultimately a more fulfilling life.
Mary Wood, LCSW
Embarking on the journey of therapy can understandably be daunting. It requires significant strength to acknowledge when some challenges are too complex to manage alone. I am deeply committed to normalizing mental health care and creating a supportive environment where clients feel understood and valued.I specialize in working with both adolescents and adults, addressing a broad spectrum of concerns, including anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, relationship and family issues, and challenges with self-esteem. My therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Exposure Therapy. My aim is to ensure that each client feels genuinely heard, empathized with, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.I provide gender-affirming and LGBTQIA+ inclusive care, and I am dedicated to celebrating each milestone in my clients' paths toward greater clarity and resilience. Additionally, when appropriate, I incorporate humor as a valuable tool in the therapeutic process. It is a privilege to understand and support each individual's unique journey, offering guidance and empathy as they navigate this transformative experience.
Adam Carlson, LCSW, LCASA
My therapy style is best described as eclectic, pulling from Brief Solutions Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalytical, and Narrative Therapy. I use elements from each in a seemingly freestyle manner. It suits my work with Neurodiverse folks, like myself, by allowing me to draw connections and parallels to presenting issues from seemingly unrelated tangents. This allows plenty of freedom to explore topics tangential to or unrelated to your established goals if it is what you want to focus on. I have 9+ years of experience working in the mental health field first as a substance use recovery counselor, then a qualified mental health professional, and for the last 5 years as a licensed psychotherapist. I also have 42 years of experience living in our society as someone with ADHD. I will keep an open mind, try my best not to gaslight your concerns, and ask for clarification and feedback so that we can both feel comfortable that we are working toward YOUR goals and addressing problems that you've identified. I will strive to make you feel heard, validated, and challenged in progress toward goals that you define at a pace that comfortably suits your level of motivation and available mental bandwidth.

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. In our work together, my goal is to help you recognize and build upon your strengths. I believe that you already have many of the tools you need to thrive. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of unlocking your potential and fine-tuning your skills. I take a strengths-based approach to counseling, which means we’ll focus on what you’re already doing well and build upon that to help you reach your fullest potential. I view therapy as a collaborative process. Together, we’ll work to raise your self-awareness, reflect on your experiences, and recognize your true potential. Then, we’ll focus on purposeful action, creating a plan that feels authentic and manageable, and committing to it in a way that works for you. My approach is a blend of several therapeutic styles including liberation, humanistic, reality-based, and emotion-focused therapies, paired with evidence-based treatments. This allows me to offer a trauma-informed, compassion-focused, and multi-culturally sensitive approach that honors your unique experiences and challenges. Whether you’re looking to build coping skills, navigate a life transition, or simply find more balance, I’m here to walk alongside you, offering support, insight, and practical tools to help you move forward with confidence and clarity. If you're ready to explore your strengths and work toward meaningful change, I’d love to connect with you. Together, we can make your goals a reality.
Richard Howard, LCMHC
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Accounting from Campbell University and my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. My counseling practice combines a person-centered approach with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy. I also tend to have a direct approach to my counseling style rather than "beat around the bush." However, I demonstrate this method respectfully and professionally. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults who experience a wide range of DSM diagnoses and concerns. I always strive to make sure my clients feel comfortable and understood so that they can be provided with the most effective and beneficial therapeutic services.
